Here's the thing. Maybe, actually, this is what attracted you to this post, is because you want to learn more about online marketing and digital marketing.
But if you look at businesses that are online businesses these days, there's a lot more than just marketing, which is why it kind of makes me ... it infuriates me when people go on and on about how you should learn digital marketing and online marketing.
It's just inaccurate and misleading information, because, yes, you need to be good at marketing, but that's only one, small part of running an online business.
There are things like product development, or product selection, and then you need to learn how to brand yourself.
You also need to learn what is the best way of getting your students result?
There is accounting, there is tax. If you have inventory, there is product fulfillment. There is building and managing an internal team. There's human resources.
There's so many other aspects to running an online business than just marketing, so if you're focusing only on the marketing, and then you're kind of sitting there and kind of wondering, "Why aren't things working?"
Well, it's because you're only focusing on one small part of a much bigger picture. It's kind of like wanting to bake a cake and only focusing on mixing the flour and the water.
And then you're wondering, "Okay, why is there no cake?" Well, because that's only two of many ingredients, right? In this case, just one ingredient.
And here, things have drastically changed, because maybe two, three years ago, the online world was so new that you could just, like we said, throw together a couple of pages, a very quick and little website, have a subpar product.
But now things have changed, and those who just focus on becoming number one at online marketing, or whether it's social media, or Instagram, or Snapchat, or Messenger bots, or YouTube marketing. Whatever that is, right?
And then they're like, "Oh, well, but I bought this program on messenger bots, and why aren't things working?"
Well, that's why.
That's only one small part of the picture, and that approach was inaccurate years ago, like it is today. The difference is that, today, the marketplace has become so much more competitive and selective that what worked a few years ago doesn't work anymore.
